Saturday (9/22) at 11 am
Ticket required ($10)
Duration: 1.5 hours
Capacity: 30 per tour
Meet: Kaszube’s Park, 1225 S. Car Ferry Drive
Join Harbor District Milwaukee for this walking tour of Jones Island. Enjoy a snack in the last remaining vestige of the Kaszube people while we learn about the history of the island from a direct descendant. On the walk we will see the industrial and shipping uses that currently inhabit the island and then learn about what the future holds as the Harbor District embarks on implementing its redevelopment plan.
The walk is not accessible for wheelchair access as there are several railroad crossings and gravel roads.
The Jones Walk will be led by Harbor District staff Tony Giron (Community Engagement Manager) and Dan Adams (Planning Director). They will be joined by a special guest descendant of the Kaszube people.
Directions to the park: We suggest looking up directions to Kaszube’s Park on Google Maps. From Bay View, head north on South Lincoln Memorial Drive to enter Jones Island. Take a left on East Bay Street. Bear right onto South Car Ferry Drive and head north for about .8 miles. There’s a gravel parking lot just south of the park.
