The Islamic Resource Center is the first Islamic library in Wisconsin, and one of few in the country. Since its inception in 2011, the IRC library has grown considerably, thanks to the magnanimous donations from our community. The IRC is a very unique center, that welcomes anyone and everyone, providing resources like a lending library, cultural center, cafe, community computers, bookstore, board room and lecture hall for meetings and events.
Founded in 1994, the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition began as a local outreach organization dedicated to promoting an accurate understanding of Islam and Muslim women. The MMWC addresses a wide range of groups including schools, universities, businesses, law enforcement agencies, healthcare centers, religious establishments, community organizations and the media. In addition, the MMWC provides resources and educational materials to groups that seek information and tools to promote understanding through their presence at the Islamic Resource Center.
The Islamic Resource Center (run by the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition) is Wisconsin’s first Islamic cultural center and Islamic public lending library. Learn about Muslim beliefs and practices, view unique books and art pieces, read about Muslim contributions to civilization, have your name written in Arabic, try on a colorful hijab (headscarf), and sample ethnic foods. There will also be craft projects for the children too.
