Saturday and Sunday visitors will be greeted by the five spectacularly sculpted and glazed clay tile murals on display from the past two events. Created by artists, students and many open doors attendees, themes include fables, fairytales, and traditional architectural rosettes depicting animals and figures. Cream City Clay will also be looking for sponsors and recipients to install & display these beautiful creations!
Continue with a tour of our Pottery School & Studio and learn the history of why Milwaukee is known as “The Cream City”. View ceramic artist in process, learn about various classes offered, and see lovely examples of pottery made by our members and shop in our gallery. Visit our glaze lab to see our hand-made glazes, and finish with a stopover in the kiln room to peek at fresh hot pottery.
Cream City Clay: Pottery School and Studio is located in the heart of downtown West Allis on the Corner of 71st and Greenfield Ave. One block from Allis Chambers. We are proud to inhabit a beautiful red brick building constructed in 1904. Originally clad in cream city brick it was used for a variety of retail shops including women’s clothing, HVAC repair, a coffee shop, and a costume shop. It is now home to a vibrant community of clay artists and pottery students learning and practicing the art of ceramics.
