Bay View Printing Co. is a century-old letterpress print shop. Their basement studio houses 12 antique letter-presses and a collection of 300+ wood and lead typefaces. They use their hands, hearts, and old school design and printing methods to both create art and teach the community how to do the same. Bay View Printing Co. spends their days crafting one-of-a-kind impressions on paper and their nights opening their type drawers and sharing their collection with the public.
Visitors will enter through the retail space upstairs and have the opportunity to meander the community gallery space and exhibits before being taken on a guided tour. On the tour, visitors will get an in-depth look at the impressive basement studio, which houses 12 antique letter-presses and a collection of 300+ wood and lead typefaces. Tours will cover shop history, demonstrate running a platen press, show examples of both wood and lead type, and discuss the company’s transformation from a commercial print shop into a creative hub for the community. Join Bay View Printing Co.’s 100th Anniversary Celebration, and be awed by the beautiful mural commemorating the event!
