Come see the new redevelopment of a former neighborhood funeral home into artist work studios, a commercial art gallery/special occasion event space, shared commercial kitchen, and residential apartments. Visitors can engage with local art producers, their works and business practices and gain exposure to contemporary visual artworks by local, national, or international artists from traditionally underrepresented demographics.
5 Points Artist Gallery and Studios is a former area funeral home (Johnson-Goolsby Funeral Services, est. 1980) converted into a mixed-use shared artist space in the Williamsburg Heights/Harambee neighborhoods. The facade is stone and cream city brick, a signature historical construction material in Milwaukee. The redevelopment maintained original features, such as exposed wooden beams in the vaulted ceilings, crown molding and casing, wood floors, twisted plaster columns, stone fireplaces, stained glass and decorative plaster windows, a dumb weighter, and more.
