Ex Fabula and Historic Milwaukee are partnering to present a Milwaukee neighborhood inspired StorySlam as part of Doors Open Milwaukee! This noncompetitive, curated StorySlam will feature preselected tellers ranging from first timers to ALL STARS who will share personal stories related to Milwaukee locations (stay tuned, as we’ll announce the storytellers on our blog). Attendees may submit their own stories in the form of UltraShorts to be read onstage. A free drink is included, and food trucks will be onsite – so all in all, it’ll be a can’t miss evening of Milwaukee love.
This event will take place at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society and Museum, which has a great story of its own. Started in 1987, it began on the premise that those who know their history will grow to love and appreciate themselves more. Located on 27th and Center Streets, the WBHSM works to bridge the gap between future and past and also serves as a resource center for those interested in learning more about Wisconsin’s rich African American heritage.
Note: Tickets are available for online purchase until noon on the day of the event. If any tickets remain, they will be available for purchase at the door. We may also sell a small number of Rush tickets; the line forms at 6 pm and we know how many tickets are available at 6:45, so we highly suggest purchasing tickets in advance!
